Treat Your Dog With Cannabis

Cannabidiol or popularly known as CBD is a compound that has medical benefits without making people feel stone and can help to counteract the effects of THC.

Uses of CBD

Although it’s been used for humans, CBD is found to have an amazing effect on some animals as well, as for example for dogs. It can benefit their pets as well. CBD is widely used:

  • As a pain reliever
  • Issues related to anxiety
  • Cancer, THC is also preferred to use along with CBD
  • Seizure control
  • Gastrointestinal disorders
  • Inflammation

How safe is CBD for dogs?

Pets have endocannabinoid system due to which they respond to cannabis and CBD in a very similar way as humans do.

However, as every drug CBD also have one important admonition. Unlike humans and other animals, dogs have a high concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brain. This results in them to react very badly to the consumption THC, they can develop static ataxia from an overdose of THC, which is an inability to be in the condition of equilibrium.

It doesn’t mean though those dogs can’t get benefits from some of the THC in their dose of medicine, however, when giving them the dose of THC the person must be very careful and have precautions to prevent an overdose. Remembering that the dose should be limited so as the dog doesn’t get stoned, it should be just enough to get its medicinal benefits.

It is a good thing to use THC in CBD hemp oil unless it is in a small amount. It causes the problem only when dogs have too much of it. Try to always start with a small dose.

Possible Side Effects of CBD

Just like any other medication, CBD also has its side effect. The good news is that they are extremely rare. The most common side effect is a feeling of exhaustion or sedation.

If this ever happens you just need to reduce the dose next time. If it is the converse case then your pet might have a problem in relaxing then sedation could be very useful.

Just keep in mind that if your dog shows side effects like having trouble in walking, then this is a clear indicator that your dog has too much consumption of THC. If you come to any symptom of alarming side effect, get your pet to the nearest vet, never wait.

At last, if you are giving your pet any other medication, consult your vet about the interaction of these drugs before you start giving your pet CBD.
